To accomplish the merge we will shut down public access to the server between 9:00 and 12:00 GMT on 1.12. Find you local time here.

We regret to announce that we won't be able to transfer any ongoing games because of the many structural differences introduced in the Alpha.

As always, we remind you NOT TO PANIC! We'll do our best to make a smooth transition, and will quickly fix whatever gets accidentally broken. In case you absolutely have to panic, please do it quietly, without spilling it over into the internet. Cheers!

SP Superweek is now officially open! For one week, from today to the end of November, several exciting things are happening:


  • SP multipliers! All Premium members will earn 1.5x SP in Afterwind and 2x SP in atWar Alpha!

  • atWar Alpha is now open to everyone who wishes to have a look!

  • All Subscriptions and Premium packs now have massive discounts!

    • Collaborators - it is now possible to work on the same map together with friends! Permissions can be set separately for adding/editing/removing countries, cities, units, borders and images. Located in the map options menu.
    • Scenarios, new option: limit reinforcements to the units available in player's home country.
    • Fixed a few minor issues.


    UPDATE:
    Fixed a bug that prevented the creation of new maps. Also, moved 'limit reinforcements to the units available in player's home country' to map options (advanced tab) instead of scenarios.

    • Ability to turn off cities in scenarios and presets.
    • Copy the default units to any map from the units menu.
    • New option for custom units - availability (from-to week).
    • Shortcuts for map scenarios, map & scenario clones from the map/scenario details panel.
    • Chat now doesn't overlap games/maps/scenarios
    • There's now a warning message when the editor zoom exceeds the in-game maximum zoom, and a button to see the in-game maximum zoom.

    • Ability to customize the country label positions.
    • Customize how units will look on a map (unit icons). We'll add some more icons in the future.
    • Separated countries / cities and units cloning (you now can clone just the units from another map).
    • Map preview feature.
    • Troop info box combines separate armies of the same player.
    • In map editor, country, city and unit lists are now searchable. Also, the list will now correctly preserve page and sorting after you edit an item.

    • Casual games no longer can be changed to Quick games.
    • Game settings panel now opens automatically if new settings have been proposed.

    We are trying to take some cool Alpha screenshots and gameplay video for the new epic trailer, but we need some well-populated games for this.

    The idea is to enter a game en masse, set turn time to 1-2 minutes, rapidly expand within the first 15 turns, then set off a lot of battles and change the turn time to 5 minutes, so we could capture a video properly.

    We are going to do this tomorrow (Thursday) evening. Everyone is welcome - the more, the merrier. Here's the schedule (UK time, please convert to local time here):

    19:00 - Space v1.2
    19:30 - A Song Of Ice And Fire
    20:00 - Greek World
    20:30 - Default map

    These four maps were chosen mostly for being photogenic/representative. No hard feelings if yours wasn't chosen.

    Our current promotion manager had to quit before ever starting (being unable to find any available time), which means the position is now open again.

    What we're looking for:
    We're looking for a third person to be an equal part of the team. Me and Amok want to concentrate on game development and need someone to take over all promotion-related things. This includes creating the buzz in the internet, requesting reviews, contacting people and companies, building connections, looking for potential partners, finding new creative ways to promote the game, handling the marketing, etc. The most important thing we expect, for starters, is bringing new players into the game.

    After the release of the Custom maps alpha there's been all sorts of rumors about the future of the game, including various doom and gloom scenarios. Well, now we can finally set all these matters straight.

    On the 1st of December we're planning to merge the two separate games we currently have (the old game + Alpha). This is when the hard work some of you put into making custom maps will finally pay off (as people will actually start playing them!)

    As part of the process:

  • All existing custom maps will be kept intact.
  • SP and stats from the Alpha will be added to your SP and stats in the old game.
  • Upgrades will be reset (with SP refunded).
  • All players will have access to the game. As in the old version, some features will be Premium-only.
  • All Premium packs will remain, with a few (small) changes. Scenarios pack will be used for custom maps, as well as for scenarios.
  • Basically, things will continue as with a regular update, so DON'T PANIC!

    We are, hopefully, getting closer to eliminating all Custom maps bugs. Here's the new batch fixed in this update:

  • Teleporting units & gigantic defence lines
  • Upgrades no longer unlock units that are disabled in maps
  • Minimap now resizes properly and proportionally
  • No more multiple hosts in the game lobby
  • Air Transport is now available by default
  • Fixed cities without unit icons
  • Air Units have 'can take units' unchecked by default
  • Country flags are now properly resizing in game menus
  • 'No open games' message now disappears when a new game is opened
  • Country-specific units no longer show up in other countries' city menus
