I've recently seen some stuff in the forums and heard from other players how AtWar is dead, now this isn't anything new as the game has apparently been dying since 2012 or something but I was wondering statistically is it actually dying? In the past Sun Tsu was able to give us some hope as he could tell us how statistically the game was actually growing but since he was lynched we don't hear anything about that area anymore.

Also I'm meaning the game as a whole in general, for anyone wondering why Competitive is dying it's because most of you are ignorant, toxic and just overall cunts who axe anyone before they can even learn about your circlejerk area of this platform.

I hoped ur resignation would cure you of the same disease that caused the irish potatoe famine, seems the salty potato lao is still here

Anyways, I live on the plant of "university" where atwar matters little, and grades mean much. Every now and then i get passage aboard a space craft with light speed capabilities to fly back to earth, but im only allowed a small window of time before the peacekeepers force me back to the realm of university. I wish i lived in an alternate universe where grades didnt matter, and i had time to put into atwar

Tut tut sultan. You shouldn't be insulting players remember?

You only don't have time when it suits you. I hope that course you're doing is some sort of social studies degree and you cover concepts such as double standards, sincerity and common sense. I'll no longer be around to stop you from arbitrarily enforcing the rules on harmless threads.

I think this is the point where you lock/move this thread. Gl with the modding thing. You'll be very popular.

What we need is another purge, preferably starting with the triumvirate at the top. I hear Unleashed was interested in buying the game?

Really though, the previous comment about the game being niche is spot on, however is it really that niche that only 200 players are online? Just seems to be no push to even get to 1k peeps.

well as much as you insulted players without demotion i feel safe

as for the rest of your post.... um what. your the one living with tito in an alternate universe if this is what u truly believe of me haha. To quote Garde since I beileve he is 100% right on this point: "if people just actually talked on discord or somewhere about issues and stuff, 90% of problems that arise wouldn't happen."

so um, again not sure what your problem is, nor why ever since ive been mod you've felt need to try and belittle me at every opportunity. but if this provides you with amusement, then im glad i can be of enjoyment

edit: also, contrary to popular belief, its not a mods job to be popular, as you so seem to think. ill do my job, stay within boundaries of rules, and if thats unpopular then so be it. I don't need friends in an online game, i play atwar out of enjoyment of the game, not cos im popular or somethin.

We can't help with the game code, but if you want to see a positive change in the amount of players playing the game, you may join this small group https://atwar-game.com/forum/topic.php?topic_id=38668
And try to revive them. Or start new one and do something to help the game flourish despite some of the problems that currently exist.

Whilst a commendable action there comes a point when the owners need to start making waves and doing shit themselves.

The content (maps) competitive (tournaments) translations (players) and to be honest any positives in this game are all player led. *puts the ''toxic community'' argument into perspective when you realise actually its the diehards (that I see some want gone) that keep the game ticking

Where are the auto tournaments for those that want quicker games? - locked duels with random opponents
Where is the constant rotation of maps for fresh gameplay? - give access to non prems on certain maps as a teaser
Where is the implementation of new microgames or a revamp of SP and grind features that keep people interested?
Where is the opening up of customization to money, turn times etc?
Where are to new game types - (kill gen, kill secret unit, get x gold etc) think civilisation game winning options

The platform is here, but do we have owners that are open to the possibilities? Sadly not, so people like you (again commendable) are forced into futile acts like this

I appreciate it. And I agree with you but we can't force them to do anything and as it seems they don't have the time or much interest to do anything about it right now. If we don't do something nothing will change, because as you see Ivan and Amok don't really intend to do something about it and not intentionally according to what they say. What I'm suggesting is for people who want this game to be the way it used to be, to take it into their own hands and do something about it despite their limited abilities, so they can continue to enjoy the game a little bit longer. And hopefully Ivan and Amok will return by then and implement all the upgrades that this game needs to get the spark back to attract new and retain old players.

Hey guys, thanks everybody for the inputs and thoughts on this topic. The admins knows about the inactivity issue and I assure you that we aren't happier with the situation.

I've read some comments in regards of my work so far, here I agree with Garden that I alone can only reach so far. This is where we need you guys. In a future I'm hoping to allow collaboration or automatize several processes between the community and the staff. I will have a meeting with the admins soon to speak about the game in General. I'll appreciate everybody's thoughts and arguments about the current game's direction and for solutions that we can follow to solve them.

So again, post here or send me a message with what you think it's wrong, and what we should to to solve it. Make your opinion count. Echo it and upvote other's opinions if you agree with them. I will take the most popular ones and bring them up to the admins.

Lol I wondered would i be able to motivate a response now that I'm free of the diplomatic constraints of being a mod. It feels like nobody calls things as they are anymore. Instead we just have useless sychophant mods who are more interested in muting players who say hi in global rather than using their influence to do anything useful. The rest either don't have time, don't care or have simply given up.

How infuriating to read a sentence like this. It's not like general discussion and idea and suggestions haven't provided a literal sea of such thoughts and arguments in the past year.

Better late than never I guess.

Honestly i don't even know why i bother anymore. Notice clovis how I'm manipulating your populistic tendencies in order to get you to actually do what's needed. Why can't logic and reason simply be enough. What a shame that I've to employ such methods.

To me the key problem / solution is that we need more niggas to play competitive / 3N3 / duels / cw.

Why ? Cause it's the heart of this game, the version that includes the more skills in terms of game mechanisms cause it's not like rp or scenarios where the maps included units / events etc... that somehow create another form of balancement. 3N3 Eu+ is the most balanced and difficult version of the game + the one which create the most important number of interactions between coalitions and amongst them ; that's just my opinion but i think it's shared by most of the players.

Thus I'll warmly support every good solution that would increase the number of players.

SP buff, PC when playing a certain amount of cws ? (like 5 PC every 5 cw games ; and u could increase that incentive as well according to certain schemes - for ex 10 cw won in a row = PC * 2 etc..., in order to granted performances or achievments)

I can propose a more elaborated version of that idea if u consider that it has some sense, but i won't spend time anymore to work on something if it becomes, like so many of them (not only mine) just another whisper in the wind.

Whoever was responsable of changing the lobby access level is 100% guilty of the main lobby dying, why would i even go to the main lobby if i can stay in begginers up to rank 7? ofcourse, by the time you get bored of beating ranks 3 its too late for you to play half decently in the main lobby, since you are an awful rank 6 that gets beaten by everyone, so you just leave the game and never return, at least before that people either get good at rank 5 or leave, so you had dedicated new players

I love how the only reason you ever come on the forum anymore is to throw these weak-ass responses to me; I must get really under your skin? Does it pain you knowing I've been right for nearly a decade now?

And a word of advice: Don't go around calling people who were devoted and willing to help and fix this game and community incompetent when you and Ivan have done jack shit in that department since 2011. Oh, and one more thing: Is Dan really the incompetent one here? I mean, your game's a buggy pile of shit at this point. I believe you're projecting your own insecurities here, Forest Brother. Stop arguing with me on the forum and fix the game you're charging Naïve people to play.

I took a course on C# development in secondary school- over five years ago, not to mention a class I did not perform well in- and I even I have found flaws in the code that abruptly flashes on my screen whenever a fatal error occurs in the game. Simply put: This is a game of compiling and resolving conflicting integers that are bound to an array expressed as a grid for the player to visually analyze. You've had a few players over the years such as Safari go on record laughing at your incompetence in handling this system. But here's he thing: Clovis already did the heavy-lifting for you in this regard. All you have to do now is listen to Laochra and either give mods the ability to edit Strategies, or become more involved again and put Strategies back on a metagame rotation. That right there is why this game is no longer hard to develop: You just have to give it end-of-life support until eventually your profits become less than the server costs. But you can't even do this, an hour of your day once a month is something you cannot manage. Fuck, the community has discussed how to balance and when to balance strategies, I've discussed with the help of many others how to implement Scorched Earth (finally), and Lao has spend countless hours debating and discussing various strategy requirements for future patches, but you've been deaf to this issue. Why?

This shit is so goddamn easy to do yet you cannot find time to do it. And yeah, keep meming Nic, that really tells everyone spending their cash here that you're not an arrogant piece of shit.

Just disregard the rest of my post Nic, that's a sure-fire way to go about improving your image. And you know what I mean (and if you somehow don't, go crack open that dusty HTML textbook you never bothered yourself with): The process of determining where a stack (integer) is on your *invisible* grid by the usage of cells that update between turns, compiling each stack into the proper stack made by player input (IE determining if the player merged his Bombers and Air Transport into a single stack), and resolving any sort of gameplay-related conflict (IE Battles) that occurs between stacks. That is the bulk of the frustrating code you have, and it is not that hard sit down for a few weeks and iron it out with Clovis. You've had years to do this, mind you.

Unfortunately, this doesn't apply to cw anymore, but to maps as well. There are chances to be kicked/banned for not playing as others tell you, then they communicate with each other to put you on as many banlists as possible thus effectively not allowing you to play 90% of maps, which mean you must play NWE if you want to continue playing this game.

Reasons vary from not funding, not wallspamming, not sending military help, not picking strategies 'they' want, not fighting how 'they' want. It is actually cringe to think about it, getting banned for using brain and tactic to defeat your opponent in a strategy game. Long story short: if you dont play safe and stall until enemy lose nerves and attack turn 44, you get banned and insulted. And if the game last 44 turns, they call it 'balanced map' because neither side made any progress or advantage, its a real mess... in people's head.

It is really hard to interest people in maps because of this, next to NWE sucking all the new players who think Afterwind is about RP and not Strategy these days.
