Right now, even if a single crappy militia attacks your fortified defence line or infantry, and none of your units die, but his does, your defence lines are still broken. Can we change it so that the units in the defence line must actually die for the line to break?

How this would change the game. Defence lines would be more powerful, requiring a greater force than defending to actually break the line. no more sending 1 unit to break the line then sending in your 50 tanks on second turn. If he has 12 units in the section you are attacking you better use enough to actually kill them all, if enough units survive to keep the line in place then you do not break the line.

No, I disagree on making defence lines more powerful. They're not here to add essentially what amounts to three or four other cities-worth of reinforcments around the city they're defending. They're here to prevent stealth attacks, mostly. Oh, and, say you cap one of my city with your main force, and I throw a huge-stack defence-line around it. You now have no choice but to A) attack it it with as much units as required and leave the city undefended or B) Get turnblokced ad infinitum because you can break the defence line.


It would advantage defensive (and thus, PD) strategies too much.

Well, I also realized in a game recently that is is actually more effective to just spam units around your Cap or city , and I am seeing others do this more as well, with cheap units such as militia you could prevent an enemy from taking a city by 2 turns or more doing this. Ie, why have 15 or 20 units in a defense line when just having them as singles around my cap will do a better job of protecting my city...

Personally I use many d-lines on my games, but not only around my cities, but also in an offensive way. Every single turn I take all my militias in the cities I captured and make giant walls in every single part connecting them so the opponents have little to no space to expand or take any cities, while I can easily attack from everywhere without any chances of being blocked. Seems to work very fine to me, specially in offensive strategies such as SM and Blitzkrieg.

Anyway, as Ironail stated it would buff (even more) the PD users, because players like me, for example, would have to waste our entire stack of marines or stealths to break the walls, being easily blocked/crushed in the next week because of our lower defense.

Yes, walls are easily destroyed, but can also be rebuild just in time to avoid the next wave, their functionality is to slow down troops, not completely stop them, so in my opinion they do their job.

Ok Pinheiro, I can see your point. I guess they do their job good enough. I am going to try what you mentioned using them more offensively.

They are also handy if you build mulitiple layers around your capital, its takes a few turns to break through and even then they can be rebuilt

Walls, depending how how much damage is done to them, more than often take much longer to rebuild than a simple click and drag attack. However I see the point. I don't think their should be any bonuses to the defense lines (aside from the ones already in place) But 1 militia taking apart a line of say 10 inf. seems ridiculous. The line isn't extended but more like 2 stacks of 5 connected. That may be what SonyHaxor meant.

How about a hotkey to set the "triangle" walls
such a pain to get it lined up correctly and a time waster when the clock is ticking

Yea but for newer players-its a huge pain in the ass to see if they r lined up correctly etc and getting it to just 1 troop with the friggin slidebar
so by the time i try to get the jerky walls set-no time to attack/defend/make troops etc

Wall are already very (too?) powerful. After all, 2 units can block the path 100...
