Alliance Limit

For non team games there should be an option to limit the number of possible alliances. I've played a lot of games where it ends up with a crazy web of alliances involving most of the players after just a couple turns, it seems silly. It would make diplomacy more interesting because you would want actual strategic alliances rather than just alliance spam.

That's exactly what the team games are for. And if you want the freedom of diplomacy - you can play the no-team games. That way, everyone's happy

Well this is for non-team games, so alliances wouldn't be fixed necessarily, and things could shift around in the middle of the game if people realize that their allies suck One of the problems with fixed teams is that you get stuck with whoever starts with you, if your ally decides he's going to get Cyprus and do nothing and you want to ally with the other guy who has Russia instead you can't do much about it.

It's kind of a happy medium between total free for all and fixed teams.

Thing is, you cannot make people to be at war. OK, we can introduce the allies limit, but what stops them from making hidden alliances? This will only add unnecessary annoyances.
