Sorry waffel, RA is not allowed in the cool kids group. Blitzkrieg and Relentless attack were the only unaffected strategies in terms of their stats.

Thanks everyone for the responses! Latest change: So it's almost the way it was before the fix, with the exception that the defence bonus is actually working now (but it's 0 by default for all units).

Umm, so RA now has -1 in cities... and 9attack RA tanks are now fighting 9defence PD infantry (since PD inf 7def + 1 for in city and +1 vs tanks) is there any reason to build tanks anymore :/ to clarify PD was buffed from already being strong before all these changes (as in pre bug fix) and RA was nerfed?

This ^ RA and PD are broken, RA was already broken(due to an accidental boost by ivan that wasnt asked for), but now pd has an added +1 def to inf and militia compared to what it had originally before the change where people already considered it op.

100cost tanks 70cost inf and -1 deff on both (as well as militia) maybe more reasonable (and FFS GET RID OF THE DAMNED +COST TO MILITIA, IT MAKES NO SENSE HAVING TO PAY FOR UNITS I GET IN TAKING CITIES PS: the strat is relentless attack, I shouldn't be punished financially for taking cities... I know a little extra upkeep cost doesn't sound like a lot but idk about others but when I play RA I end with hundreds of militia that just waste cash

Okay, back to the beginning: some people raised suspicion, that the battle mechanism does count wrong for infantries, because they were overproportional weak .Now (after 2 years), you guys fixed this "broken" algorithmus and Infantry grew stronger in defence. About 15% for normal Infantry and 30% for PD. I agree, that 30% are the way too much but 15% looks good for many people. Now, nothing changed and they are overproportional weak again

Relentless Attack and Blitzkrieg doesn't use this bonus because their strategy nullify it. The Nerf had made them stronger. Now the offensive strategies are strong and PD cannot match their attack (7 def vs 8 attack for most offensive units, 8 vs 9 if it is PD vs RA). I would had love if the +1 def to both militias and infantries had waited a time before taking it back. I mean, we didn't even got to test it to see if it is really as "OP" as people says...
You've forgot that Infantries only have 4 attack. Expanding with them is a mess.

i agree with clovis. Attacking units are so strong and nobody can say "it was just a bad roll" anymore. edit: just remove the +1 def for neutral infantry

you speak like people were previously of the opinion that defence was lacking on aw and pd was underpowered, quite the oppposite actually. Why would we check to see if its "op" when a quick search on general discussion with the word perfect reveals several threads along the lines of "pd is op and needs a nerf". Nowhere is there any players seeking a boost to pd. It is still the most popular and versatile strat on atwar. People here seem to wish for it also to be the most powerful.

Hmm I recall that it was a bug, and if I'm not mistake AlexMeza was saying that sometimes the defense bonus worked so I agree that making it 0 has made PD considerably weaker. This means that PD had +1 defense (compared to other inf based strat) only sometimes. I'm not sure what the next step is to make that balance, maybe make +1 militia for PD but we'll see what people suggest I guess.

alex has no proof that it ever worked. He said he "thinks" that it used to work. To my knowlege, it hasnt worked for over a year. Amok can probably have a guess at just how long this bug existed, did it occur randomly after an update or was it always there. I am willing to bet it was always there.

I guess we can say there's no proof of it as of now, but if PD is "unchanged" in this state, then it is pretty weak in 3 way battles. boosts/nerfs we need to be careful and not just like any idea.

actually with 8/8 in a gen stack,(8 att tanks and 8 def inf) it is one of the strongest. Particularly vs tanks as pd has 9 def vs those in a 3 way battle. only sm gc and if are superior.
