Where to start in North America?

If I want to play North America and perhaps extend south, what is the best region? I'd assume it's in US, but which one? I'm a beginner btw

USA Northeast....great income and ports to go south. Great for invading Europe....where the real money is.

Mexico is also good

In my opinion, I would say USA: Great Lakes. As chicago is now a port city, you can have a lot of fun with expanding into ontario, quebec, USA: South and midwest. maybe even northeast too if you're lucky
